UK NEQAS and GameteExpert conclude a cooperation agreement

November 2010 | The United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS) and GameteExpert have signed a cooperation contract.

Under this agreement, UK NEQAS will use the GameteExpert service for online training for its Reproductive Medicine Scheme (Andrology and Embryology) from 2011.

This training tool will complement and enhance the established Andrology Scheme and the recently launched Embryology Scheme.

UK NEQAS will benefit from following advantages:

Lower effort for organizers and participants

  • No shipment of DVDs.

  • Easy reporting of the assessment results.

  • No special software required, only a computer with Internet connection.

  • Easy organizing of the quality monitoring. Results and progress can be reviewed by Internet.

  • Each user can set time and place of assessment within the normal distribution deadline.

Significant improvement of assessment accuracy

  • All participants assess exactly the same sperms or embryos; consequently there is no sampling error.

  • The sperm morphology samples will be reported as percentage normal, but in addition each individual sperm will be checked to see if it has been falsely assessed. This allows measuring the sensitivity and specificity of the participant's assessment. Additionally, the abnormalities will be further subdivided and detailed considered.

  • Very efficient validated reference assessment by sophisticated consensus calculation.

Convenient data preparation

  • All data are in a powerful data base and can be analysed also retrospectively.
