Top Performers of the GameteExpert Individual Licence

May 2014 | After last four distributions of the GameteExpert individual licences for embryo morphology, sperm motility and interpretive morphology the best performers have been identified.

The best three performers for Andrology scheme come from Switzerland, Israel, and United Kingdom. For Embryology all come from United Kingdom.

Each laboratory has a basic licence for External Quality Assessment (EQA) with UK NEQAS and staff have the option of additional individual licences for Internal Quality Assessment (IQA) using GameteExpert ranking.

311 Andrology labs with 716 participants and 78 Embryology labs with 231 participants joined in this program for EQA and IQA.

  This service will be carried out by the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS).


The UK NEQAS
  Reproductive Science Scheme, which consists of 4 distributions per annum, offers 2 assessment schemes:
Embryology and Andrology.
 

The next distributions which will start in August and November 2014 and in February 2015 are open to new subscribers.

Top Performers Andrology

   

     

The best performer of the Andrology laboratories is Susanne von Wyl and her staff. She is the Head of ART of Viollier AG.

This lab has one basic licence.

The second best performer of the Andrology laboratories is Prof. Leah Yogev. She is Director of Fertility Research Laboratory.

The Fertility Research Laboratory in the Lis Maternity Hospital is a part of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The laboratory performs routine semen analyses, sperm preparation before artificial insemination, sperm cryopreservation, and molecular analyses.

The current research is focused on gene involvement in infertility, impairment in meiosis as a cause for infertility, factor that may improve cryopreservation results.

The third best performer of the Andrology laboratories is Sian Chilcott, the basic licence holder. She is Senior Biomedical Scientist of Andrology Service at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

This lab has one basic licence and four individual licences.

The Andrology Service of the Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom provides diagnostic semen analysis as a routine part of infertility investigations and post vasectomy semen analysis to check a vasectomy procedure has been successful.

The laboratory serves both General Practitioners throughout Cambridge and the surrounding area and Consultants within Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other local trusts.

Top Performers Embryology

   

The best performer of the Embryology laboratories is Amy Sharpe who is an individual licence holder. She is Clinical Embryologist at the Leicester Fertility Centre. Amy Sharpe’s role is based within the laboratory performing all aspects of gamete and embryo manipulation and assessment. She also co-ordinates the sperm donor bank at the clinic.

This lab has one basic licence and eight individual licences.

The Leicester Fertility Centre is part of University Hospitals NHS Trust Leicester, United Kingdom.

The clinic provides NHS and private treatment for infertility including in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), intra-uterine insemination (IUI), donor insemination (DI) and ovulation induction (OI).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  The second best performer of the Embryology laboratories is Brooke Wilson. She is Embryologist at the Bourn Hall Clinic. Brooke trained as an embryologist at Bourn Hall Cambridge and has now been here for 5 years.

The Herts & Essex Fertility Centre in Cheshunt, United Kingdom was established in 1989, and celebrates its Silver Jubilee Year with birth of over 5000 babies.

They treat more than 500 patients per year predominantly in the East of England and pioneered the use of Blastocyst Culture and Blastocyst Transfer in the UK in 1999.

In 2013 over 60% of patients achieved a Blastocyst Transfer.
